Mega Cities (Group A) constituting of 9 JNNURM Cities under PEARL is the network for large cities. Mega Cities Association is an association of 4 million plus population formed by the Municipal Corporation of 9 Mega Cities Group. All the mega cities have already initiated various reforms in sectors ranging from property tax, basic services for the poor, levying user charges, e-governance, etc. A variety of innovative initiatives are also coming up. The main objective of this page is to create a platform for knowledge sharing and peer learning in various urban infrastructure sectors and urban governance-taking place in these important cities of India.

Urban Management Centre (UMC) is a not-for-profit organization which, in collaboration with International City/County Management Association (ICMA), works towards professionalizing urban management in India. UMC provides technical assistance and support to the Indian state local government associations and implements programs that work towards improvement in cities by partnering with city governments.

UMC provided technical assistance to the formation of the Mega Cities Association. India's seven mega cities have become members of this association which is a platform for managers of mega cities to discuss and find solutions to issues of local governance, institutionalized cooperation and national policy. The Mega Cities Association is a membership-based association for city managers of Mega Cities in India to interact, exchange information, advocate urban issues and coordinate their efforts to achieve common goals
