Practices Study Tour to Rabkavi Banahatti on “Generating revenue
from Solid Waste”

Innovations
- Setting up of a system to treat
bio-medical waste is an expensive affair. The major cost is
required in fabricating the incinerator of desired capacity,
shredder and mutilator. Belgaum has been very innovative in
experimenting to fabricate these equipments locally for the
required capacity and has been successfully treating the waste
since 4 years.
- The cost is considerably low if
the system is developed locally. Rs. 6, 00, 000 was the cost
incurred while the incinerator was fabricated in Belgaum.
Whereas incinerators available in the market of the same
capacity costs roughly about Rs.25, 00,000.
